How do I make a reservation?
Bookings can be made online, by telephone or at our office.
Are the prices per person or per aircraft?
Auckland Seaplanes offer two products. Scenic Tours which are sold on a per person basis and charters are sold on exclusive aircraft. Scenic flight prices are based on a minimum of four passengers. However, we have prices for smaller groups as well as exclusive charters of the aircraft.
What do I need to bring and what should I wear?
This depends entirely on what tour is chosen. If no landing or guided tour is chosen then no specific requirements exist. For excursions where you are landing, we recommend walking shoes which are easy to slip-off and clothes appropriate to the conditions on the day. It is always a good idea to bring a light jacket, water, sunscreen and of course your camera!
Do you offer a courtesy pick up service?
Auckland Seaplanes offers courtesy transport within the Auckland CBD subject to prior arrangement.
Can we use our cameras and cell phones during the flight?
You are welcome to take cameras on the aircraft, and cell phones are permitted unless otherwise stated.
How long should we arrive before our flight is due to depart?
We ask that you arrive at least 20 minutes before the flight is due to depart.
What type of seaplane do you operate?
Auckland Seaplanes operates de Havilland Beaver aircraft, which are seven or eight seater seaplanes originally designed in Canada and generally considered as one of the best seaplanes ever built. They were selected due to their short take-off and landing distances, customer comfort and very stable flying characteristics.
Does a seaplane have a designated water-runway to take-off and land?
No, Auckland Seaplanes has a designated water aerodrome in Auckland Harbour as per Civil Aviation Law but does not have a designated runway. If the conditions are appropriate and an area is free of any traffic or vessels a seaplane can take-off or land while still abiding by marine law. If you have any questions please see our ‘Sharing the Water with Seaplanes’ information flyer on our website or feel free to ask our friendly staff.
How many people can fit in a seaplane?
Our beautiful de Havilland Beavers seat up to seven passengers depending on passenger weights.
